Lake District Classic Rock Challenge

The Lake District Classic Rock Challenge was conceived as a 24hr endurance challenge. The challenge assumes the participants are super fit and capable. It is usually completed with no support and no sleep as the distances between areas is considerable and a lot of running is involved.  If you have a major expedition looming and want to train for it this is the ultimate climbing challenge in the North of England.

For this spectacular Wild Spaces expedition only basic climbing skills are needed as instruction is provided throughout the tour, you will be a multi-pitch master by the end of this expedition. If you have no technical climbing experience but are fit mountaineer then you can complete a one day multi-pitch climbing day before. All equipment can be provided (except climbing shoes, but I may be able to hire you some), but you are encouraged to use your own if you have some as this helps you become a better, independent climber.

You must have a good level of fitness to get the most out of this challenge as there will be some hiking between the routes.  Transport is provided for the weekend and day versions.

The Wild Spaces Lake District Classic Rock challenge can be completed in one of several ways and offers a more leisurely challenge and most importantly offers you some sleep and the luxury of hot meals:

 Four Day Challenge

All the routes are completed within a 4 day period. A combination of valley camping and Youth Hostels are used for accommodation. The expedition is self-supported and all equipment is taken en route. The expedition begins in Borrowdale and progresses through to Wasdale and the Langdale. If time is short on the final day we may get transport to Coniston. The cost cover guiding and transport only but I can arrange accommodation and food. Full costs will be discussed prior to booking is confirmation. Other costs will be discussed by arrangement if and when they occur. Ratio 1:2

 Weekend/Two Session Challenge

The challenge can be completed over two weekends or two lots of two days. This may fit into a busy work schedules and provide time to reflect and train in between attempts. The rate is the same as for the four day challenge and associated extra costs will be discussed when a booking is confirmed. Ratio 1:2

 Four separate sessions.

The challenge can also be completed on four separate sessions. This allows for day visits or a day off to recover before you return home. The rate is lower as there are no accommodation or transport costs. This is also ideal for some-one with no climbing experience as we can concentrate during the first day on instruction, this then allows time for skills practice and fitness in between attempts. Ratio 1:2
